DEVELON has officially announced the launch of its all-new DX17Z-7 mini excavator, which is pretty much designed to work in tight spaces on jobsites. According to certain reports, the stated excavator comes bearing a 48-in. track width, meaning it can seamlessly travel between homes on tight lot lines or flush against existing structures in developed areas where large equipment doesn’t fit. Not just its width, but the machine zero tail swing design also does a lot to help it navigate in urban areas and around confined worksites or obstacles. Furthermore, the new excavator features an open canopy cab for optimal operator visibility. Here, the operator can also access a selectable control pattern switch which makes it possible for them to change between ISO and “backhoe” patterns depending on their preference. Beyond that, there is a change valve located right beneath the floor cover which is markedly accessible without the need for any tools. However, an even more significant detail would be how the excavator also comes decked up with the new MY DEVELON telematics system that monitors the health, location, and performance of DEVELON equipment from a mobile app and website.
Anyway, another detail worth a mention here is rooted in the machine’s retractable undercarriage and collapsible dozer blade. You see, serving you the necessary versatility when working in a confined space, this fully retracted undercarriage allows the excavator to enter narrow spaces, and once you expand it to maximum capacity, it even becomes well-equipped to offer that much-needed stability. As for the collapsible dozer blade, it can be retracted or expanded to meet various jobsite needs. In fact, for grading, leveling and backfilling, the blade float feature further allows the blade to follow contours of the ground, and that too, without calling for any operator input.
“Contractors can say goodbye to the days of difficult navigation and limited maneuverability with the addition of the DX17Z-7 to our mini excavator lineup,” said Andy Jeong, mini excavator product manager at DEVELON. “This nimble piece of machinery helps jobs stay on track by tackling the toughest tasks in the tightest spaces. The DX17Z-7 features many of the same premium features as the rest of our mini excavator line, with the added benefits of a compact footprint, retractable undercarriage and collapsible dozer blade.”
Hold on, we still have a few bits left to unpack, considering we still haven’t acknowledged the machine’s auxiliary hydraulics that are configured with flush face couplers for hose connections when using augers, breakers, and other hydraulic attachments. More on the same would reveal how, like DEVELON -7 Series mini excavators, the DX17Z-7 features a hydraulic quick-coupler-ready design with quick-coupler hydraulic piping installed to the end of the arm. To go with that, the excavator is given a thumb-ready design to grab and lift objects in as smooth of a fashion as possible. Coming back to the DX17Z-7’s undercarriage design, it also has a part of its utility rooted in protecting against wear and tear of retractable parts. On top of that, the rubber track undercarriage is understood to be capable of flotation and traction on sensitive or soft surfaces, while simultaneously minimizing damage as it travels across them. Rounding up highlights are these standard cylinder guards that protect the machine’s cylinders in the event of collisions with other objects. Before it reaches said stage, though, the machine’s onboard diagnostics make a point to enable proactive maintenance management.
