HD Hyundai Construction Equipment North America, has officially announced an entry into crawler dozers market through the introduction of its all-new 115-net-hp (86 kW) Hyundai HD100. According to certain reports, the stated dozer model is essentially a 10-ton-class machine with a standard blade capacity of 2.9-yd3 (2.2-m3) and a digging depth of 1 ft., 6 in. (457 mm). The machine’s four-cylinder Hyundai G2 DM03 engine also, markedly enough, meets all Tier 4 Final emissions standards. As for its standard operating weight, it is understood to be around 23,589 lbs, whereas its track length on the ground is 108 in. (2,737 cm). There is further available a hydrostatic transmission technology, which will be responsible for delivering control of speed and torque. The dozer’s undercarriage system also delivers at your disposal dual-flange rollers outside the chain of the track, as well as single-flange rollers inside the chain of the track to help the track stay on the undercarriage. Next up, we must get into how this new equipment can offer comprehensive visibility into the standard six-way angle blade. It delivers that right alongside an electronic cooling system, which is positioned at the back to achieve an unobstructed view of the blade. Enhancing visibility even further in regards to working end of the dozer would be a front hood, placement of the inline pre-cleaner under the hood, minimized cab pillars, and maximized glass areas including all-glass doors. There is also a rearview camera, high-illumination LED lights, and four wiper blades that are all standard.
“This new Hyundai dozer delivers best-in-class power-to-weight ratio and the best visibility to the dozer blade. Our dealers and customers, especially in landscaping and forestry, have already expressed a lot of interest in this machine,” said David Spooner, product manager, HD Hyundai Construction Equipment North America.
Beyond visibility, the standard six-way variable-angle-pitch dozer blade leverages its maximum angle of 25 degrees to deliver utmost precision when grading or moving dirt, clay, and other materials. This pursuit for precision is largely aided by a standard blade float function which can be used for fine finishing or back grading. Moving on to the dozer’s 2D Smart Blade assist function, it comes as a standard feature to support precision grading in an effective manner. Compatible with grading technologies that help novice operators, the dozer, by the way, can also be ordered Trimble-ready from the factory. Another detail worth a mention here is how the optional 3D machine guidance and 3D machine control system tends to activate automatic blade movements based on GPS coordinates.
Hold on, we still have a few bits left to unpack, considering we still haven’t acknowledged the presence of an LGP (low ground pressure) option which is available when ordering the dozer with a wider 10-ft., 7-in. (3,226 mm) blade versus the standard 8-ft., 11-in. (2,718 mm) blade. This option is provided to the customer right next to track shoes that are 4 in. (102 mm) wider than the standard shoes. Apart from LGP, we also have other options in a parallel ripper or towing draw bar. Rounding up highlights for the new Hyundai dozer is its maximum travel speed of 5.6 mph (9.0 km/hr), seven track rollers, shoe width of 1 ft., 8 in. (508 mm), and ground contact pressure of 5.6 psi (38.6 kPa) with a standard blade.
“The new HD100 dozer will be a great addition to the equipment fleets of earthmoving contractors, forestry, waste handlers and other customers who already enjoy the benefits of using Hyundai wheel loaders and excavators,” said Mike Ross, senior VP, HD Hyundai Construction Equipment North America. “It’s further evidence of the Hyundai commitment to providing the right solution for a wide range of earthmoving and material-handling applications.”
